Bybit fee rebate vs VIP discount: which saves more, and can you have both?

VIP levels cut your fee rate, rebates return part of what you paid. They work differently, they stack, and for most traders one of them is out of reach.

Two different mechanisms

A VIP discount lowers the fee rate charged at the moment of each fill. Reach VIP 1 and your taker fee on perpetuals drops from the standard rate to a lower one, automatically, inside Bybit.

A rebate does not change the rate. You pay the standard fee, Bybit pays the affiliate a commission on it, and the rebate program returns a share of that commission to you afterwards, as a daily credit you withdraw to your own UID.

Who can reach VIP

Bybit's VIP tiers start at several million USDT of 30-day derivatives volume or a large asset balance. For a trader doing a few hundred thousand a month, VIP is not in reach, and there is no partial discount below the first tier. The standard rate applies to everyone under it.

A rebate program has tiers too, but the first tier starts at zero. Every referred trader earns from the first fill.

Do they stack?

Yes. If you later reach a VIP level, your fee rate drops and your affiliate commission is calculated on the lower fee you actually pay. The rebate is a share of that commission, so it continues on top of the VIP discount. The two compound rather than exclude each other.

A worked comparison

Fees paid in a month at the standard rate: 1,000 USDT.

Exact VIP rates change over time and by product, so treat the VIP numbers as illustrative. The rebate share is fixed by your tier and shown on your dashboard.

The practical conclusion

If you are not at VIP volume, a rebate is the only fee reduction available to you, and it is the larger of the two in absolute terms for almost every retail account. If you are at VIP volume, you should still be referred, because the rebate applies on top.
