How to reduce perpetual futures trading fees on Bybit, MEXC and Bitget

Perpetual futures fees are small per trade and large per month. Six practical ways to pay less, from order type to funding, and the one that works without changing how you trade.

The real cost of perpetuals

A perpetual futures taker fee of 0.055% sounds small. On a 50,000 USDT position opened and closed once a day it is 55 USDT a day, over 1,600 USDT a month, before funding. Most traders never see the total because it leaves silently on every fill.

1. Use limit orders where the entry can wait

Maker fees on perpetuals are roughly a third of taker fees. Resting a limit order a tick inside the spread and letting the market come to you is the single largest saving for a patient trader.

2. Mind the funding rate

Funding is paid every eight hours between longs and shorts. Holding through several intervals on the expensive side can cost more than the trading fee. Check the rate before holding overnight; sometimes the spot market or a dated contract is cheaper for the same view.

3. Avoid overtrading small size

Fees are a percentage, so size does not change the rate, but nibbling in and out multiplies round trips. Decide the position, enter in one or two orders, and let it work.

4. Use fee coupons, knowing the trade-off

Exchanges hand out fee coupons in promotions. They reduce the fee you pay and, in the same proportion, the commission that trade generates, so a couponed trade earns a smaller rebate. Still a saving, just not one that stacks fully.

5. Reach a VIP level if your volume supports it

VIP tiers cut the fee rate itself, but the thresholds are high. If you qualify, take it; it stacks with a rebate because the rebate applies to whatever fee you actually paid.

6. Trade under a fee rebate

A rebate returns part of every fee, maker or taker, spot or perpetual, with no change to how you trade. On RebateYou it is 35% to 55% of your fees depending on 30-day volume, credited daily to your dashboard and withdrawable to your exchange UID. The only condition is that your exchange account was opened through our referral link, so set it up before the first trade, not after.

Putting it together

Maker orders where possible, funding awareness on overnight positions, fewer round trips, and a rebate on everything that remains. A trader paying 1,600 USDT a month in fees who moves half of entries to maker orders and trades under a 40% rebate ends the month paying well under half of that.
